SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) \u2014 Two people are facing charges after a disturbance in Scranton left one woman with a stab wound and another alleging she was assaulted, according to police.<\/p>\n
Officers responded to the 2000 block of Edna Avenue on June 23 after receiving reports of a disturbance involving several people. Police were also advised that one of the individuals involved may have been armed with a firearm.<\/p>\n
When officers arrived, they found a woman suffering from a stab wound to her right arm. According to investigators, the victim reported that a man stabbed her and then attempted to strike her with a vehicle.<\/p>\n
A second woman told police she had been physically assaulted by a female who was accompanying the male suspect.<\/p>\n
Police said the suspects fled the area in a vehicle but were quickly located and detained in the parking lot of a convenience store in the 1300 block of North Main Avenue.<\/p>\n
Following an investigation, officers identified 18-year-old Malachi Bush as the person responsible for the stabbing and the alleged attempt to hit the victim with a vehicle.<\/p>\n
Bush was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment and harassment.<\/p>\n
Investigators also identified 29-year-old Ishalamayra Fred, described by police as Bush’s girlfriend, as the person accused of assaulting the second woman. Fred was charged with simple assault and harassment.<\/p>\n
Both defendants are scheduled for preliminary hearings later this month, according to police.<\/p>\n
Criminal charges are allegations, and both defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA CO.
