(WPVI) &#8212; The motorcyclist who was shot by a police officer <a class=\"zZygg UbGlr iFzkS qdXbA WCDhQ DbOXS tqUtK GpWVU iJYzE \" data-testid=\"prism-linkbase\" href=\"https:\/\/6abc.com\/post\/police-involved-shooting-investigation-road-rage-incident-bensalem\/17410794\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">during a confrontation that followed a road rage incident<\/a> in Bensalem, Bucks County, is now out of the hospital.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">John Mathis, 44, is now being held on $1 million bail on charges stemming from a separate road rage incident that happened in Bristol Township on July 27.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"zZygg UbGlr iFzkS qdXbA hsDdd DbOXS oklLN GpWVU iJYzE \" data-testid=\"prism-linkbase\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"John Mathis\" class=\"hsDdd NDJZt sJeUN IJwXl vBqtr KrDt itslR WAUrb hakZw HlUVI \" data-testid=\"prism-image\" draggable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/17456298_080625-wpvi-john-mathis-img.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Bristol police had an active warrant for Mathis for an incident in which he allegedly used a baseball bat to smash a car&#8217;s windshield.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Charges for Saturday&#8217;s incident in Bensalem are still pending.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Investigators say Mathis pointed a gun at people in a car around 5:45 p.m., then followed them down Bristol Pike.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Video obtained by Action News shows the officer arriving on the scene and positioning the cruiser between the victim&#8217;s car and the motorcycle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Police say Mathis slammed his motorcycle into the side of the police cruiser, then fled on foot while armed with a handgun.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Police say Mathis did not comply with commands, and a veteran officer opened fire.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC eTIW sUzSN \">Mathis has several other arrests dating back to 2001.<br class=\" \"\/><\/p>\n<p>Copyright \u00a9 2025 WPVI-TV.
