{"id":226948,"date":"2026-06-24T15:58:09","date_gmt":"2026-06-24T15:58:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/226948\/"},"modified":"2026-06-24T15:58:09","modified_gmt":"2026-06-24T15:58:09","slug":"reading-railroad-days-at-the-railroad-museum-of-pa-starts-next-weekend-pottsville-republican-herald","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/226948\/","title":{"rendered":"Reading Railroad Days at the Railroad Museum of Pa. starts next weekend \u2013 Pottsville Republican Herald"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>STRASBURG \u2014 The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania will host its annual Reading Railroad Days over two weekends in July.<\/p>\n<p>The program runs from July 1 to July 5, and July 8 to July 11 at the museum in Lancaster County.<\/p>\n<p>The museum, a Smithsonian Institution affiliate, is known for its world-class collection of more than 100 steam locomotives and railroad cars.<\/p>\n<p>One of 23 sites administered by the Pennsylvania Historical &amp; Museum Commission, it receives support from the Friends of the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n<p>The Reading Railroad Days centerpiece is an HO-gauge layout of the Reading Railroad in the museum\u2019s Rolling Stock Hall.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s operated by members of the Reading Company Technical &amp; Historical Society.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" lazyautosizes lazyload\" alt=\"HO-gauge Reading Railroad display is at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania. SUBMITTED<\/p>\n<p>Also on display are the 108-year-old tank engine No. 1251, the 95-year-old multiple unit commuter car No. 800 and the 188-year-old Rocket steam locomotive.<\/p>\n<p>Built in 1838, the wood-fired Rocket is the oldest surviving locomotive of the original Philadelphia &amp; Reading Railway.
