Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. statewide.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor of Allentown<\/p>\n<p>Matthew Tuerk (D) is the incumbent, seeking re-election for a second term.<\/p>\n<p>Challenging him is Ed Zucal (R), a city councilman and former police sergeant, in a rematch of the May primary.<\/p>\n<p>Tuerk has framed his campaign on growth and economic development.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur city has a rich history and the regional economy is strong,\u201d Tuerk said on his campaign website. \u201cLet\u2019s continue to move toward an Allentown that is truly open for business, creating jobs and bringing prosperity to every corner of a safe, clean and healthy city.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>Zucal\u2019s campaign focuses on quality-of-life issues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy plan is to attack all forms of quality-of-life issues that are impacting Allentown residents,\u201d Zucal said.<\/p>\n<p>Lehigh County executive<\/p>\n<p>The office of county executive in Lehigh County is also on the ballot.<\/p>\n<p>Joshua Siegel (D), a state representative, is the Democratic nominee.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m running because we need a new generation of leadership,\u201d Siegel said in an October debate. \u201cWe need leaders who act boldly and decisively and govern with a sense of urgency for the challenges people face in their daily lives.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>Roger MacLean (R), former Allentown City Council member and former Allentown police chief, is the Republican nominee.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy goal when I lead as county executive is to make sure Lehigh County is a better place than when I walked in,\u201d MacLean said. \u201cThat\u2019s my goal in every role. In my tenure as police chief, major crimes fell 27%. I\u2019m very proud of what we accomplished.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The county executive oversees about 2,200 employees who manage daily county operations.<\/p>\n<p>Lehigh County commissioner<\/p>\n<p>The election for Lehigh County commissioner will fill five district seats. Candidates include:\n<\/p>\n<p>Antonio Pineda (R) \u2014 incumbent representing District 1<\/p>\n<p>Ron W. Beitler (D) \u2014 incumbent representing District 2<\/p>\n<p>Zachary Cole-Borghi (D) \u2014 incumbent representing District 3<\/p>\n<p>Jacqueline Rivera (R) \u2014 Bethlehem resident running for District 3<\/p>\n<p>Geoffrey Brace (D) \u2014 incumbent representing District 4<\/p>\n<p>Patrick Leonard (R) \u2014 former Upper Saucon Township supervisor running for District 5<\/p>\n<p>Sarah Fevig (D) \u2014 assistant vice provost in higher education, running for District 5<\/p>\n<p>Lehigh County Court of Common Pleas<\/p>\n<p>Candidates for the county Court of Common Pleas include:<\/p>\n<p>Mark Stanziola (D) \u2014 local attorney<\/p>\n<p>Patricia Fuentes Mulqueen (R) \u2014 local prosecutor<\/p>\n<p>What\u2019s at stake<\/p>\n<p>Key issues expected to drive voter interest include housing, budgeting and the open county executive seat, which gives both parties a chance to shape the region\u2019s future direction.\n<\/p>\n<p>Municipal elections often see lower turnout, but even small shifts in participation can affect the outcome of competitive races.<\/p>\n<p>Voters across Pennsylvania will also decide whether to retain several statewide judges on the Supreme Court, Superior Court and Commonwealth Court. In these retention elections, voters will vote \u201cYes\u201d or \u201cNo,\u201d and judges must receive a majority of \u201cYes\u201d votes to keep their seats.
