{"id":227072,"date":"2026-06-24T18:33:30","date_gmt":"2026-06-24T18:33:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/227072\/"},"modified":"2026-06-24T18:33:30","modified_gmt":"2026-06-24T18:33:30","slug":"dickson-city-police-woman-faces-aggravated-assault-charges-after-dui-crash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/227072\/","title":{"rendered":"Dickson City police: Woman faces aggravated assault charges after DUI crash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A head-on collision Tuesday left two people with serious injuries and a woman facing multiple felony charges for driving under the influence of marijuana, according to a criminal complaint.<\/p>\n<p>Jade Autumn Hardy, 27, of Susquehanna, faces felony charges of aggravated assault by vehicle while driving under the influence during a chase that reached speeds over 115 mph.<\/p>\n<p>She allegedly turned her vehicle into an opposing lane of traffic and hit an oncoming vehicle head-on.<\/p>\n<p>At about 6 p.m., Dickson City police officers were on patrol near Viewmont Drive when they spotted Hardy in a vehicle they believed to be stolen.<\/p>\n<p>Officer Matthew Gallagher saw the vehicle doing over 70 mph in a 45 mph zone, crossing over into oncoming traffic at high speed, going through stop signs and passing vehicles, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n<p>Several times, Hardy veered off into oncoming traffic, forcing vehicles off the road.<\/p>\n<p>The vehicle passed police near Lowe\u2019s and continued into Dickson City. Officers soon spotted it heading toward the Blakely\/Archbald border.<\/p>\n<p>Gallagher then positioned his vehicle at Sturges Road and Business Route 6, where Hardy passed him at a high rate of speed.<\/p>\n<p>Officers continued pursuit onto Route 247 into Greenfield Twp., where officers set up spike strips.<\/p>\n<p>When Hardy hit the strips, her passenger side front and rear tires deflated.<\/p>\n<p>Hardy, however, continued to flee in her vehicle, driving on only two inflated tires, a deflated tire and a metal rim, police said.<\/p>\n<p>As she approached Amelia Avenue, an SUV approached Hardy\u2019s vehicle in the oncoming lane.<\/p>\n<p>Hardy hit SUV at a high rate of speed, causing it to roll and trap two injured people inside, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n<p>Emergency medical and fire personnel responded to the scene. Gallagher removed Hardy from the vehicle at gunpoint and forcibly lowered her to the ground before handcuffing her.<\/p>\n<p>Emergency responders removed two victims from the other vehicle and began rendering medical treatment.<\/p>\n<p>Officers noted the pursuit lasted 11 miles and 13 minutes, at a maximum speed of 117 mph.<\/p>\n<p>Hardy mentioned dying to officers before being transported to police headquarters.
