{"id":227077,"date":"2026-06-24T18:39:08","date_gmt":"2026-06-24T18:39:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/227077\/"},"modified":"2026-06-24T18:39:08","modified_gmt":"2026-06-24T18:39:08","slug":"renovations-aim-to-increase-hospitality-at-pittsburgh-shelter-for-families-in-crisis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/227077\/","title":{"rendered":"Renovations aim to increase hospitality at Pittsburgh shelter for families in crisis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">PITTSBURGH \u2014 Channel 11 got an inside look at renovations to a Salvation Army shelter in Pittsburgh that provides a safe haven for families in crisis.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">The Family Caring Center along Broad Street in East Liberty has been under construction for the past year as part of \u201cRenovation Hope.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Marcus Jugenheimer, divisional commander of the Salvation Army of Western Pennsylvania, noted the transformation of the shelter\u2019s common areas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">&#8220;To make it feel more homey to those residents who are here, to be more welcoming. And there\u2019s great new additions to the building to support both the parents and the children,&#8221; Jugenheimer said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">The Family Caring Center provides a space for people experiencing homelessness.
