Detectives responded to the hospital and opened an investigation. Officials said preliminary information indicates the child was shot inside a home in the 100 block of Rankin Boulevard late Tuesday evening. Police said everyone involved in the incident has been identified and the investigation is ongoing.George Woodruff, a resident of Rankin, said it came as a shock to learn about the incident. “Oh, that’s heartbreaking. It’s heartbreaking because, as I said, I see a couple of kids all the time when I go out for a walk, and I’m always playing with them and joking around with them.
