Manayunk Arts Festival<\/p>\n

Set for Saturday, June 27 (11 a.m. to 7 p.m.), and Sunday, June 28 (11 a.m. to 5 p.m.), Main Street Manayunk will once again host this outdoor gallery, with around 300 local and nationally recognized artists and craftspeople in attendance.<\/p>\n

While there, visitors can explore a unique variety of fine art and handmade crafts alongside food and beverage vendors, merchant specials, live art demonstrations, and interactive experiences. This year, the Manayunk Arts Festival<\/a> is embracing \u201ca fresh energy designed to engage younger audiences and introduce new voices to the creative community\u201d with the addition of student art sales from Baby Face Studios, an Emerging Artists Tent showcasing rising talent, and unique pop-up experiences like the Funk Shop by Lucky\u2019s Last Chance.<\/p>\n

The free, rain-or-shine festival will showcase artists working across disciplines like ceramics, fiber, glass, jewelry, mixed media, painting\/drawing, photography, wood and sculpture. New this year, the Arts Loop shuttle will also make navigating the festival easy: The continuous route connects complimentary parking locations in Bala Cynwyd and at Ivy Ridge Station with multiple stops throughout the district, allowing visitors to explore Main Street at their own pace.<\/p>\n

The Garden at City Tavern<\/p>\n

The Garden at City Tavern<\/a> is set to open June 25 as part of the city\u2019s ongoing America 250<\/a> celebrations. The seasonal outdoor pop-up will transform the garden behind the historic venue in Old City<\/a> into an open-air experience inspired by 18th-century food, drink, and social traditions. Operating Thursday through Sunday (11 a.m. to 8 p.m.) throughout the summer, the space will bring history to life through interactive programming, elevated hospitality, and a variety of special touches.<\/p>\n

Inspired by the original City Tavern, The Garden\u2019s menu offers exclusive ready-to-drink cocktails, mocktails, rotating beers, curated wines, and a menu of sandwiches, wraps, charcuterie, pretzels, light bites, and kid-friendly refreshments. Daytime \u201cHistory Maker\u201d experiences here include Colonial games, interactive activities, and historic interpreters portraying real figures from the past.<\/p>\n

Historic Philadelphia, Inc. will also bring back its popular Independence After Hours experience every Saturday evening throughout the summer. The tour begins at the Independence Visitor Center and continues with a special after-hours visit to Independence Hall, where interpreters portray the authors of the Declaration of Independence. The evening then concludes with celebratory toasts at The Garden.<\/p>\n

Sunset Sundays at Assembly Rooftop Lounge<\/p>\n

Assembly Rooftop Lounge has brought back its annual Sunset Sundays this month. Running every Sunday (from 2 to 10 p.m.) through Sept 13, the summer-long series features an early opening, rotating guest DJs, featured beverage partners, and special brand activations. This weekend\u2019s lineup includes DJ Adrian Hardy and R\u00e9my Cointreau on June 28, with live entertainment and activations taking place from 4 to 8 p.m.<\/p>\n

While enjoying the music and skyline views, guests can also explore Assembly’s newly launched summer menu, featuring seasonal dishes like Carne Guisada Tacos, Tuna Poke, Laguna Blanca Salmon Cakes, and a Lobster Roll. The rooftop’s refreshed cocktail program is additionally serving up summer sips like the Pulling Straws, made with strawberry-infused Roku Gin and toasted cardamom and the Staycation, a tropical blend of Planteray Rum, Maggie’s Falernum, coconut cream, and pineapple. The lineup also includes Assembly’s popular Fros\u00e9 and a variety of zero-proof options. Reservations are encouraged.<\/p>\n

\u2018Flash! Bang! Boom! A History of Fireworks’ at The Science History Institute<\/p>\n

The Science History Institute recently debuted \u2018Flash! Bang! Boom! A History of Fireworks<\/a>‘, a new exhibition exploring the global origins and colorful chemistry behind one of the world\u2019s most popular traditions. From how fireworks are made, designed, tested, and sold, to the science that sends them into the night sky, the exhibition offers an up-close look at this colorful craft. Visitors can explore rare books, historic catalogs, design renderings, safety tools, and even the inner workings of a firework while here.<\/p>\n

The museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday.<\/p>\n

Under the El Bazaar<\/p>\n

Fishtown District is kicking off its 2026 Under the El Bazaar series with the theme \u201cChalk of the Town.\u201d Set for this Saturday, June 27, from noon to 6 p.m., the free, family- and dog-friendly event transforms the area into an open-air gallery with local artists creating large-scale chalk murals.<\/p>\n

The premiere event will also host live music, food and drink specials, shopping, vendors, and activities for all ages, including a dedicated chalk zone for children. Participating businesses span International Bar, Percy Diner & Bar, Evil Genius Beer Company, LMNO, Mecha Noodle Bar, and Pure Green. \u00a0Chalk of the Town is the first of three Under the El Bazaar events this summer, with additional dates scheduled for July 18 and Aug. 15. Admission is free; everything else is pay-as-you-go.<\/p>\n
