WEST PITTSTON, LUZERNE CO. (WOLF) — Weiner World, a longtime West Pittston restaurant known for its hot dogs, homemade food and family-friendly atmosphere, has announced it will permanently close within the next several weeks.

The business shared the news in a social media post, saying the decision came after years of unresolved issues with its building. Owners said they chose not to renew their lease because of what they described as growing safety concerns and an inability to continue operating in the space.

FOX56 contacted Weiner World for additional comment, but the owners declined to elaborate beyond their public statement.

In the announcement, the owners said they had repeatedly asked their landlord to address problems with the building over the past eight years but alleged the needed repairs were never completed.

They said smaller maintenance issues eventually became larger problems that made it increasingly difficult to operate the restaurant safely.

Weiner World said the decision was especially difficult because the restaurant represented a family legacy. The business said it was originally founded by the owner’s grandfather before being revived and rebuilt over the past eight years.

The owners thanked customers for their support, describing the restaurant as a place where families gathered, children stopped by for free ice pops and even neighborhood dogs visited for fresh water.

They credited customers from across northeastern Pennsylvania for helping the business grow and said they will miss the relationships built over the years.

While the restaurant is preparing to close, the owners said they are exploring future opportunities but have not finalized any plans.

Customers are encouraged to stop by before the restaurant closes permanently. The owners also said Weiner World T-shirts remain available for purchase.

The business did not announce an exact closing date.

WEST PITTSTON, LUZERNE CO.
