A beloved Erie staple will be closing this summer. New York Lunch on Peninsula Drive is a place woven into Erie\u2019s daily lunch scene for decades.<\/p>\n
The final day of business there is next Friday, July 3rd. The owners say changes with the property mean they can\u2019t stay in the building any longer.<\/p>\n
But the community isn\u2019t letting these final days pass quietly. Lines have been stretching out the door.<\/p>\n
We spoke with Justin, who started working there as a teenager. He says the place shaped him, and the people inside became family.<\/p>\n
He and his staff say they\u2019ve been overwhelmed by the support and are grateful.<\/p>\n
\u201cSupport was overwhelming. It was overwhelming in the best of ways, without a doubt. We never actually expected that much of a community to come together in such a fast time, in a short time. And there was no downtime. Yesterday was wonderful,\u201d said employee Justin Pytlarz.<\/p>\n
But there is good news to this story. They plan to launch a new location.
