ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) \u2014 City officials said Thursday the country\u2019s first container-based, 24\/7 AI-powered grocery store is now open in Atlanta\u2019s Pittsburgh Yards. <\/p>\n
\u201cFor far too, long families in this community had to leave their own neighborhood to buy groceries,\u201d Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens said. <\/p>\n
Nourish + Bloom Market was founded by Jamie and Jilea Hemmings. <\/p>\n
\u201cProduce to prepared meals to personal care,\u201d Jilea said about what is offered. \u201cIt means that you don\u2019t have to wait in line, and you don\u2019t need any clerks or anybody in the store to shop.\u201d<\/p>\n
Dickens, Atlanta City Councilman Antonio Lewis, and representatives from AT&T, who helped make this possible with a small business contest, all joined the founders for the grand opening with one single mission. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt was about the parents trying to feed their children healthier meals,\u201d Lewis said. \u201cIt was about the workers coming home after midnight who still deserve access to groceries.\u201d<\/p>\n
The goal is to provide fresh food and essentials to the community, where that wasn\u2019t an option before. <\/p>\n
Hemmings said their mission is to eliminate food deserts and provide healthy options. <\/p>\n
