{"id":228930,"date":"2026-06-26T16:47:08","date_gmt":"2026-06-26T16:47:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/228930\/"},"modified":"2026-06-26T16:47:08","modified_gmt":"2026-06-26T16:47:08","slug":"paving-to-begin-on-fifth-avenue-in-pittsburghs-uptown-as-part-of-prts-university-line-project-wpxi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/228930\/","title":{"rendered":"Paving to begin on Fifth Avenue in Pittsburgh\u2019s Uptown as part of PRT\u2019s University Line project \u2013 WPXI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">PITTSBURGH \u2014 Pittsburgh Regional Transit announced that paving will begin next week along Fifth Avenue in Uptown as construction continues on the University Line Project.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">The work will begin on Monday, when contractors will mill and pave the right lane of Fifth Avenue between Kirkpatrick Street at the Birmingham Bridge to Diamond Street. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">It\u2019s scheduled to take place between 7\u202fa.m. and\u202f7\u202fp.m. Monday through Friday and is expected to be completed by Friday, July 11, weather permitting. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Bus stops along the corridor will remain open whenever possible, but some may close temporarily as crews move through the work zone. PRT staff will be on site to direct riders to the nearest stop.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Drivers should expect Fifth Avenue to remain reduced to a single lane.
