The orchestra is also celebrating the recent extension of music director Manfred Honeck\u2019s contract through 2033. Spirits are high\u2026. This is a special orchestra, a uniquely exceptional ensemble in a city that, by population size, defies financial logic with its heart and quality. The final concerts, which featured an all-American program centered on dance, also included a world premiere, a visit from the great violinist Augustin Hadelich and a performance of Aaron Copland\u2019s \u2018Appalachian Spring,\u2019 with members of Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre\u2026. The symphony is making incremental progress toward increasing ticket revenue through increased attendance and adjusting ticket prices. Earned revenue covered 22.2% of its budget in 2024 and 23.5% in 2025\u2026. The orchestra noted that its live-with-film concerts drew nearly 27,000 attendees\u2026. By the numbers, people are indeed returning.
