The city’s department of Parks and Recreation will honor Juneteenth and African-American heritage with their finale event today, hosted by the city and our sister station, WAMO 107.3.<\/p>\n
The event will include lots of family-friendly fun from 12-4 at Highland Park.<\/p>\n
At 3:00, the festivities will recognize WAMO on-air host Ki Ki Jones for her lasting impact and contributions to the city.<\/p>\n
Ki Ki spoke with KDKA Radio about why she feels honored to be recognized in this way:<\/p>\n
“I’m just doing what I’m known to do like through my family, my grandmother, my father, we’ve just been a family that gave back to the community and since being with WAMO since I was in my early 20s, I’m not in my 20s now. It’s just something that I’ve learned to do is give back and serve my community,” she said.<\/p>\n
