READING, Pa. – Two individuals involved in the fatal 2022 shooting of a teen in Reading’s Brookline Park will spend decades in prison\u00a0for their participation in the deadly incident.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Anthony Boria and Henry Madera, Jr. were each sentenced to 23 – 46 years in state prison Tuesday.\u00a0<\/p>\n
During an October bench trial, each were found guilty of third-degree murder, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, perjury, false swearing and firearms not to be carried without a license. The pair were found not guilty of conspiracy.<\/p>\n
On March 14, 2022, authorities received reports of a large fight in Reading’s Brookline Park involving 15 to 30 individuals.<\/p>\n
Police arrived to find 18-year-old Amiere Bibbs dead from a gunshot wound. Three other people involved in the fight were shot as well.<\/p>\n
The fatal encounter sent shockwaves through the community, including the Governor Mifflin School District where the victims were all students.<\/p>\n
Investigators say it started as a fistfight involving students and former students, and once it was over, an exchange of words took place between both sides.<\/p>\n
One side of the confrontation, which included Boria and Madera, pulled out guns and fired shots towards the crowd. Investigators recovered a total of 43 shell casings from the scene.<\/p>\n
Part of the fight was caught on cellphone video, which police say was a key piece of evidence in identifying the shooters.<\/p>\n
Authorities say the two gave false testimony in front of a grand jury, claiming they were nowhere near the park at the time of the shooting.<\/p>\n
