Robert was born in Sidney, NY, graduating from Sidney High School in 1957. He received his BS degree in Photographic Art from the University of Denver and then moved to Washington D.C. where he became well-known as a photographer. Robert then moved to Union Dale where he and his first wife founded the Art Exchange, a non-profit organization that provided education, exhibits and studio space for more than 50 years. During his career he had solo exhibits of photographs at Corcoran Gallery of Art, and an exhibit of his paintings and pastels at the Phillips Collection in Washington D.C.

Robert’s ever-changing stylistic shifts kept his work fresh and new. Because of this, his work is of great interest to museums, universities, institutions, private collectors, fine art galleries, and friends throughout the country. His work has been exhibited for the last five decades in over 140 world capitals through the U.S State Departments Art in Embassies program.

Robert’s final wish was that his studio and remaining artwork provide a resource to serve the community and artists everywhere. His generous donation of his property and paintings to the Art Exchange has made this possible. A Celebrations of Life will be held at the Susquehanna Studio, Union Dale, PA, August 29th. Anyone wishing to make a donation to the Art Exchange in memory of Robert can do so by sending an e-mail request to artexchange4U@gmail.com.
