FOUNTAIN HILL, Pa. – An Allentown man who burglarized a pharmacy in Lehigh County on Christmas Eve in 2024 has learned his sentence.<\/p>\n
Miguel Angel Martinez, 57, was ordered to serve 8 to 20 years in state prison by Judge Anna-Kristie M. Marks on June 26, the Lehigh County District Attorney\u2019s Office said in a news release.<\/p>\n
The DA\u2019s office said Martinez had pleaded guilty in May to felony charges of Conspiracy to Commit Burglary, Burglary, and a misdemeanor charge of Possessing Instruments of Crime.<\/p>\n
David Montes Vazquez, 34, of Bethlehem, is also charged in the case, the DA\u2019s office said.<\/p>\n
According to the DA\u2019s office, Vazquez is charged with felony counts of Conspiracy to Commit Burglary and to Possession of a Firearm Prohibited as well as Burglary, Receiving Stolen Property and misdemeanor charges of Conspiracy to Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Conspiracy to Make Repairs\/Sell an Offensive Weapon, Conspiracy to Possession of a Weapon and Conspiracy to Theft by Unlawful Taking.<\/p>\n
Vazquez is scheduled for a status conference at 10 a.m. June 30, 2026 before Judge Marks.<\/p>\n
Shortly after 9 p.m. Dec. 24, 2024, Fountain Hill Police were called to a sounding burglar alarm at the Fountain Hill Pharmacy at 1049 Broadway, according to the DA\u2019s office.<\/p>\n
Police arrived and saw two men inside the pharmacy, later identified as Martinez and Vazquez, the DA\u2019s office said.<\/p>\n
Officers say Vazquez pointed a gun at a borough police officer who opened fire. The DA\u2019s office said the gunfire did not hit either Martinez or Vazquez.<\/p>\n
Residents were ordered to stay inside their homes during the standoff, authorities said.<\/p>\n
According to the DA\u2019s office, Martinez and Vazquez eventually surrendered to police.<\/p>\n
