AMITY TWP., Pa. – A single-car crash early Saturday morning has taken the life of a Pottstown man.<\/p>\n
According to the Berks County Coroner, the crash occurred at approximately 6:08 a.m. in front of 1832 Old Swede Road in Amity Township.<\/p>\n
An initial investigation indicates that the 56-year-old victim, who was the sole occupant and driver of the vehicle, left the roadway and struck a tree.<\/p>\n
The driver was extricated from the vehicle by emergency responders and transported to the Emergency Department at Reading Hospital.<\/p>\n
Despite lifesaving efforts, he was pronounced deceased at the hospital.<\/p>\n
The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin.<\/p>\n
