Despite Washington having the edge at the most important individual position in the NFL (quarterback), Philly takes both sides of the trenches, which is big. Both teams have some younger, intriguing playmakers on offense, but there remains uncertainty with who may step up into key roles this year. Washington\u2019s offensive line is on the rise, while Philly\u2019s in on the decline, and if Johnson and Dickerson can\u2019t make it through the season healthy, it could spell major trouble for the Eagles offense. Defensively, Philly still has the edge but the gap is a lot smaller than it once was. Washington has a slew of athletes in the front seven capable of getting after the head of the snake and creating havoc with their size, speed and athleticism. With Jones at coordinator, the level of play should increase. Philadelphia Eagles tickets for 10 home games (one preseason, nine regular season) AND one public training camp practice at Lincoln Financial Field in 2026 will go on sale TOMORROW, Tuesday, June 30 starting at 10:00 AM Eastern, according to an official team announcement.<\/p>\n
1) Vic Fangio is back. It took the Eagles\u2019 defense a little time to get its sea legs under Vic Fangio in his first season as the Eagles\u2019 defensive coordinator, but by the time it was all said and done they were punishing Patrick Mahomes and a completely overwhelmed Chiefs dynasty in the Super Bowl. In 2025, again, it was a little bit of a slow start, but the defense was dominant at the end of the season. From December on, they held opponents to 256 yards per game, and they created 10 turnovers in 6 games. That was all with an extremely young defense. The 2026 season will be Year 3 under Fangio, and many of those young guys have matured into star players or at least had some sort of a breakout. They are also building continuity, as guys like Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Moro Ojomo, Zack Baun, Jalyx Hunt, Nolan Smith, Quinyon Mitchell, and Cooper DeJean will all be in their third season in Fangio\u2019s defense. There\u2019s no more thinking, and communication between those players should be easy. They can just play fast.<\/p>\n
I\u2019m bringing him up because some people are so casual when talking about trading Jalen Carter. If you have a player who is special, you need to be very careful about letting him go, especially at a critical position like DT. Moving on from CJGJ is one thing, Carter is worlds different. The Eagles have already won a Super Bowl with Carter and he was key in helping them get there as you might recall. The Eagles needed a Top 10 pick to get a talent like Carter. If you trade him there is no guarantee you\u2019ll get a high pick. You would need at least one first round pick, maybe two. You can find good DTs all over, but it isn\u2019t easy. That\u2019s why some other team would trade for Carter. That\u2019s why Cincy gave up the #10 pick for Dexter Lawrence. And so on. If you find one of those guys, you try to keep them around.<\/p>\n
The Eagles\u2019 offseason seemed to be centered on the A.J. Brown drama, and the fallout leaves two simple things to focus on for camp. The first is what Jalen Hurts looks like post-Brown, with new OC Sean Mannion leading the way. The second, obviously, is how the replacements around DeVonta Smith\u2014Makai Lemon, Dontayvion Wicks and Hollywood Brown\u2014look. The roster is otherwise in good shape and still in a window to compete at the highest level. Newcomers Tariq Woolen and Jonathan Greenard are two guys to watch in camp on defense.<\/p>\n
20. Philadelphia Eagles. Makai Lemon, WR, USC. Lemon jumped into the mix with the starters and was mainly featured in the slot. Pre-snap motion is expected to be featured in new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion\u2019s scheme, and early indications suggest Lemon will be a big part of that. There were some expected growing pains, but Lemon\u2019s short-area quickness stands out. He was sidelined for minicamp because of a hamstring injury.<\/p>\n
Even though the Eagles drafted tight end Eli Stowers in the second round in April, it\u2019s probably going to take him a while to become a consistent contributor at the NFL level. And even though the Eagles brought in Johnny Mundt in free agency, Mundt figures to be a blocking tight end. So there\u2019s a good chance that Goedert will still see a ton of targets from Jalen Hurts in 2026 after getting 82 targets last season, up from 52 in 10 games the previous year. For whatever reason, it seemed like Goedert\u2019s run blocking wasn\u2019t up to his previous standard in 2025 but he was still a really dangerous target, especially in the red zone. He had 11 touchdown catches last season, which is a franchise record. It\u2019s possible this could be Goedert\u2019s final season in Philadelphia, especially if Stowers becomes the tight end of the future. But this isn\u2019t some ceremonial final year in Philly. The Eagles need him to play at a high level in 2026.<\/p>\n
On plays with at least five defensive backs on the field, which included DeJean at nickel since 2024, the Eagles had a defensive EPA on designed rushing attempts of plus-0.15 and a 62.4% defensive rushing success rate, according to TruMedia. He will likely fill the role vacated by Reed Blankenship, who signed with the Houston Texans this offseason. Blankenship excelled at filling the alley from his safety spot in the Eagles\u2019 secondary, and while the team is bullish on Drew Mukuba\u2019s development heading into his second year, he\u2019s not as consistent a tackler in space as DeJean, nor is he as physical. DeJean\u2019s move to safety in the base defense also allows the Eagles to have their best four defensive backs on the field at once and could signal less reliance from Fangio operating in his nickel defense on early downs. It also could open the door for more flexibility in personnel matching against teams that are looking for formational advantages.<\/p>\n
The Cowboys don\u2019t really have a left tackle. Obviously the Cowboys have a left tackle on their two-deep depth chart right now: Tyler Guyton. The team\u2019s first-round pick in 2024, if someone told you the night he was selected that two years later we\u2019d be at the very least entertaining questions about who is starting at his position then you likely would have said that things were a failure early on. And to be clear, it is hardly breaking news to anyone that the left tackle position has a question mark next to it right now on the aforementioned two-deep. The thing that makes this overlooked is the level of importance that surrounds the spot. Left tackle is one of the \u201cmoney five\u201d positions in the NFL, it is on some level an extension of the quarterback position which is the most important, and with a month to go until camp there is not a certainty on who is going to man it. To their credit, the Cowboys have effectively announced that they are aware of the ongoing debate at the position. Brian Schottenheimer said recently that Guyton is in a roster battle with Nate Thomas for the role. Dak Prescott added that they are each giving it a full effort.<\/p>\n
Sometimes, it is impossible to understand how much a player means to a team until that player is no longer there. That has been the case for the New York Giants and star left tackle Andrew Thomas in recent seasons.
Thomas is a rare, precious commodity in the NFL. He is a set-it-and-forget-it left tackle who can be left alone on an island to handle the best pass rushers in the game. Thomas checks in at No. 2 on our list of \u2018most important Giants of 2026\u2019. Argue about the placement on our list of Thomas, Brian Burns, and Malik Nabers if you must. They are 2-4 no matter what order you put them in. Thomas was a second-team All-Pro in 2022. That year, Thomas allowed just four sacks and 23 pressures in 16 games. Pro Football Focus graded him as the league\u2019s third-best offensive tackle. Pro Football and Sports Network ranked him No. 7.<\/p>\n
Three-time Pro Bowl running back Chris Johnson revealed on Monday that he has been diagnosed with ALS. Johnson said in an interview with Michael Strahan on \u201cGood Morning America\u201d that he was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in 2025. The disease has spread so rapidly that he now uses a speech-generating machine triggered by his eyes to speak. \u201cFirst, I want people to know I\u2019m still me,\u201d Johnson said. \u201cALS has changed what my body can do, but it hasn\u2019t changed who I am.\u201d<\/p>\n

Just a few days remain in group play at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. And the Round of 32 is getting filled in.
