{"id":231845,"date":"2026-06-30T14:14:10","date_gmt":"2026-06-30T14:14:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/231845\/"},"modified":"2026-06-30T14:14:10","modified_gmt":"2026-06-30T14:14:10","slug":"extreme-heat-calls-for-changes-to-some-of-philadelphias-biggest-events","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/231845\/","title":{"rendered":"Extreme heat calls for changes to some of Philadelphia&#8217;s biggest events"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) \u2014 Some of the big events in the city this week are being cut short because of the extreme heat.<\/p>\n<p>The route for Friday&#8217;s Salute to Independence Parade was shortened.<\/p>\n<p>Instead of a two-and-a-half-mile route, it&#8217;ll be just one mile from Independence Hall to City Hall.<\/p>\n<p>Parade producer Todd Marcocci told NBC10 everyone seemed happy about the decision.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;That&#8217;s the thing about the parade business. Mother Nature rules everything. So, once I sent the email out to all of the participants last night, they were elated,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>And the FIFA Fan Fest at Lemon Hill adjusted its hours.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;ll open four hours late today, Thursday and Friday. Today, it&#8217;ll be open 4 to midnight.
