The Binghamton Rumble Ponies are back home at Mirabito Stadium for the 4th of July week. The Rumble Ponies kick off a six-game series, hosting the Chesapeake Baysox tonight (June 30). Gametime is 6:07 p.m and the pregame will begin at 5:50 p.m. with Matt Levine and Cam Mann on the WNBF\/Rumble Ponies radio Network – 1290 AM, 92.1 FM, WNBF.com, and the WNBF app.<\/p>\n
Last week, the Rumble Ponies were in Erie, Pennsylvania, at UPMC Park for a six-game series with the SeaWolves. We’ll get caught up on those games in this article, but first, let’s see what’s on tap for the Rumble Ponies this week as we celebrate America’s 250th anniversary.<\/p>\n

Tuesday, June 23 – SeaWolves – 10\u00a0 Rumble Ponies – 2<\/p>\n
Binghamton\u00a0fell\u00a0behind after a six-run fourth inning to drop the series opener to the Erie SeaWolves\u00a0at UPMC Park.\u00a0Tigers right-hander Jack Flaherty made a rehab assignment for Erie, tossing 5.2 innings and allowing two earned runs, which were both home runs. In the bottom of the first inning, third baseman Nick Lorusso, with two outs and two strikes, clubbed his team-leading 12th homer to make it 1-0 Binghamton.\u00a0Then, in the sixth inning with one out, center fielder Jose Ramos hit a solo home run to right field, which cut the Erie lead to 7-2. Ramos holds a team lead with 39 RBI. The Rumble Ponies have\u00a0homered at least twice in one game in four of their last five contests.<\/p>\n
Wednesday, June 24 – SeaWolves – 8\u00a0 Rumble Ponies – 4<\/p>\n
The Rumble Ponies couldn’t\u00a0hold off a late rally from Erie in game two, losing by a score of 8-4.\u00a0Binghamton took a 1-0 lead for the second straight night in the first inning.\u00a0Off of Erie right-hander Hayden Minton, who was making his Double-A debut, first baseman JT Schwartz tallied an RBI single to score center fielder Jose Ramos.\u00a0Matt Rudick now has three straight games with an XBH and his first Double-A homer of the year, and\u00a0JT Schwartz tallied his seventh multi-hit game.<\/p>\n
Thursday, June 25 – Rumble Ponies – 10\u00a0 SeaWolves – 7 (rain-shortened game)<\/p>\n
Binghamton used 15 hits and two home runs to take down Erie and win their first game of the second half, 10-7 in a rain-shortened game at UPMC Park, after the top of the ninth.\u00a0Two crucial home runs backed Binghamton to extend its lead in the victory.\u00a0In the fourth inning, the Ponies led 5-4 until Nick Lorusso mashed his team-leading 13th home run of the year to give Binghamton a two-run lead. The homer went just above the yellow line in left field.<\/p>\n
In the top of the ninth with one runner on, two outs, and in a full count, Jose Ramos blasted a two-run home run to give Binghamton a 10-7 advantage. The game entered a rain delay after the top of the ninth and was ultimately called. Ramos delivered the homer off of right-hander Luke Taggart, who had not allowed a run over his last 12.1 innings pitched.\u00a0The 15 hits for Binghamton were the team\u2019s second-most all season, and the offense has tallied multi-homer games in four of its last five contests.\u00a0Jose Ramos tallied his fourth three-hit game and extended his hit streak to a season-long nine games, and JT Schwartz recorded his ninth multi-hit game<\/p>\n
Friday, June 26 – SeaWolves – 6\u00a0 Rumble Ponies – 0<\/p>\n
\u00a0Binghamton\u00a0was\u00a0shut out for the ninth time this season, falling to the Erie SeaWolves\u00a0 6-0 on Thursday night.\u00a0\u00a0Binghamton right-hander Channing Austin made his Double-A debut\u00a0after being on the injured list since May 26. The 24-year-old went one inning, allowing three earned runs.\u00a0The SeaWolves lead the Eastern League with 148 stolen bases after stealing six in the game.\u00a0Left-hander Max Green entered in relief for Binghamton, tossing 5 innings after setting a career high of 5.2 innings pitched in his last start on June 20.<\/p>\n
Saturday, June 27 – SeaWolves – 8\u00a0 Rumble Ponies – 1<\/p>\n
The Rumble Ponies were\u00a0overpowered by Erie 8-1, having now lost four of the first five of the series.\u00a0Binghamton right-hander R.J. Gordon made his ninth start of the year for Binghamton and looked good to begin putting down Erie in order in the first inning. In the second, Erie took a 2-0 lead. Third baseman E.J. Exposito hit an RBI double off the left field wall and scored left fielder Garrett Pennington, who led off the frame with a base hit. Designated hitter Aaron Antonini followed with a sacrifice fly, scoring first baseman Andrew Jenkins, who also singled.\u00a0Then in the third inning, Erie mustered together a two-out rally to take a 5-0 lead. Rumble Ponies’ Jaylen Palmer now has 19 hits with 10 doubles in 28 games.<\/p>\n
Sunday, June 28 – SeaWolves – 6\u00a0 Rumble Ponies – 5 (10 Innings)<\/p>\n
Binghamton\u00a0dropped the series finale in 10 innings as\u00a0 Erie walked it off for a 6-5 win.\u00a0SeaWolves right fielder Chris Meyers capped off a special series with a 10th-inning walk-off single. Meyers drove in shortstop Peyton Graham and drove in five runs in the game.\u00a0In the top of the tenth inning, Binghamton left fielder Matt Rudick slapped a single to right field with the go-ahead run in first baseman JT Schwartz rounding third, but it was Meyers who threw him out at home plate to keep the game tied. Binghamton Right-hander Zach Peek left a runner in scoring position in the ninth inning, but surrendered the walk-off in the 10th and got the loss.\u00a0Chris Suero set a career high with four runs scored, while Nick Lorusso recorded his 14th multi-hit game, which leads the team, and drove in three, and Wyatt Young extended his hit streak to seven games.<\/p>\n
