A Dunmore man attempted to leave the scene after he hit a parked car on Sunday, police said.<\/p>\n
Dunmore police responded to Shoemaker Street at about 5:15 p.m. for the report of a crash.\u00a0A witness told officers she had been sitting in her house when she heard a loud bang. When she went outside she spotted a Toyota Highlander had struck a parked car and was disabled.<\/p>\n
A man, later identified as Peter Mataloni, 30, of Meade Street, was seated in the driver\u2019s seat attempting to drive away despite the condition of his vehicle, the witness said.<\/p>\n
When the witness approached Mataloni in the driver\u2019s seat, he smelled strongly of alcohol and said, \u201cI\u2019m just really having a bad day,\u201d according to the complaint.<\/p>\n
The witness handed over the keys to police, saying of Mataloni, \u201cHe is extremely intoxicated.\u201d<\/p>\n
When officers interviewed Mataloni, he denied he had been drinking.\u00a0He was unable to satisfactorily complete a field sobriety test.<\/p>\n
Officers noted Mataloni was a participant in the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program, a pretrial diversion program.<\/p>\n
He is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol as a participant in a diversionary program and driving under the influence.<\/p>\n
