A truck that’s gaining a lot of attention on social media across America made a stop in Erie this week, and people lined up to get the fresh fruit it provides.<\/p>\n
The Fruit Truck is changing the way people access fresh food. The traveling business visits communities across the country, selling fresh organic fruit directly to customers.<\/p>\n
The truck has gone viral online, drawing large crowds at many of its stops. That was the case in Erie, where people lined up at Eastland Bowl on Wednesday morning to purchase fruit.<\/p>\n
So far, The Fruit Truck has traveled through 18 states.<\/p>\n
The business was originally started to help provide people with access to essential food as demand continued to grow. As interest increased, organizers decided to make it a full-time operation.<\/p>\n
We spoke with one of the workers and a customer about why buying organic produce is important to them.<\/p>\n
“Well, these fruits are fresh. They are not like the store-bought fruits because they’re not sprayed with anything. They are non-GMO as well, so I think it’s very good for families to have them. We really want to make sure we’re eating as clean as we can,” said Cheryl Hofer, a worker with The Fruit Truck.<\/p>\n
“We don’t want to be putting a bunch of fertilizers, pesticides and chemicals into our bodies. Autoimmune diseases, cancers and all those things are on the rise,” explained customer Lynn Orton.<\/p>\n
The Fruit Truck has been operating for years and is finally receiving widespread recognition for its efforts to bring fresh produce to communities across the country.<\/p>\n
We also spoke with the owner of Eastland Bowl, who frequently hosts community fundraisers and charitable events. He said he was happy to welcome The Fruit Truck to the property and help provide local residents with access to fresh food.<\/p>\n
