An illegal immigrant with a criminal history that includes a hit-and-run<\/a> remains on the run Wednesday, after he allegedly rammed his car into a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) vehicle in Pennsylvania, prompting a federal agent to open fire, authorities said.<\/p>\n

ICE officers were trying to take Clemente Lara-Hernandez, a Mexican national<\/a>, into custody in Harrisburg at around 6:15 a.m. when he resisted, ICE told Fox News Digital.<\/p>\n

At one point, Lara-Hernandez “weaponized his car” and rammed an ICE vehicle, the agency said.<\/p>\n

Clemente Lara-Hernandez, a Mexican citizen with a criminal history that includes assault, hit-and-run and a domestic incident, allegedly rammed his car into an ICE vehicle Wednesday, prompting an ICE officer to open fire. He remains at large.<\/p>\n

“The illegal alien then dangerously drove in the wrong direction on a one-way street and crashed into a civilian vehicle,” an ICE spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

An ICE agent fired his weapon and another sustained a cut to the hand, authorities said. No one appeared to have been struck. Lara-Hernandez remains at large.<\/p>\n

An ICE agent fired his weapon and another sustained a cut to the hand, authorities said.<\/p>\n

The FBI is<\/a> leading the investigation into the incident. The Harrisburg Police Department had no involvement other than responding to secure the scene, a police spokesperson told Fox News Digital.<\/p>\n

The FBI said it responded to the scene but that “Justice Department policy<\/a> prevents us from commenting on the nature of any investigations that may or may not be occurring.”<\/p>\n

The FBI is leading the investigation into the incident.<\/p>\n

In addition to a hit-and-run, Lara-Hernandez’s criminal history includes<\/a> an assault and a domestic violence incident, ICE said. ICE noted that its officers are facing a significant uptick in attacks as they carry out immigration enforcement operations<\/a> nationwide.<\/p>\n

“Our ICE law enforcement officers<\/a> are facing a more than 1,300% increase in assaults<\/a>, 3,300% increase in vehicular attacks, and an 8,000% increase in death threats against them as they put their lives on the line to arrest the worst of the worst,” ICE said.<\/p>\n
