{"id":234129,"date":"2026-07-02T21:14:06","date_gmt":"2026-07-02T21:14:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/234129\/"},"modified":"2026-07-02T21:14:06","modified_gmt":"2026-07-02T21:14:06","slug":"police-scranton-man-flees-during-attempted-traffic-stop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/234129\/","title":{"rendered":"Police: Scranton man flees during attempted traffic stop"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Scranton man who didn\u2019t stop for police first told officers he didn\u2019t see their lights or hear sirens and then said he didn\u2019t know he was required to stop, according to a criminal complaint.<\/p>\n<p>Dawson Card, 26, of 138 Fillmore Ave., Scranton, is charged with fleeing and eluding officers, driving without a valid license and careless driving.<\/p>\n<p>According to the complaint, on Monday, Officer Nathan Manning was parked at North Main Avenue and the McDade Expressway ramp just after midnight when he spotted Card speeding north on North Main Avenue.<\/p>\n<p>As Manning began to pull onto North Main Avenue in an effort to stop Card, Card made a sudden right turn onto Townhouse Boulevard.<\/p>\n<p>Manning activated his lights and sirens in an effort to stop Card, but Card failed to stop and the officer pursued him until he stopped on Tripp Street.<\/p>\n<p>After officers took him into custody, Card said he didn\u2019t see Manning\u2019s emergency lights or hear sirens.
