PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) \u2014 Friday\u2019s Salute to Independence Parade in Philadelphia has been canceled, yet another event axed because of the dangerous heat.<\/p>\n
The parade was supposed to be one of the signature events of the city\u2019s Wawa Welcome America July Fourth celebrations.<\/p>\n
Al Miller, an audio engineer for all the parade floats, didn\u2019t hear from anyone with the parade that it was canceled; he found out through the news. <\/p>\n
While it is very disappointing, he certainly understands the concern.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe sun is just relentless,\u201d he said. \u201cYesterday I tried to pick my speakers up and I couldn\u2019t even; I had to put gloves on because they were so hot. So, it\u2019s gonna take a toll on equipment, all the vehicles and the people. You can\u2019t fight Mother Nature.\u201d<\/p>\n
MORE: Extreme heat seeps into July 4th weekend in Philly<\/a><\/p>\n The dangerous heat continues to plague the city\u2019s America 250 celebrations. <\/p>\n Other Welcome America events \u2014 Thursday\u2019s All-American Block Party and Salute to Service concert on Independence Mall \u2014 were also canceled due to the heat<\/a>. The concert was scheduled to feature the U.S. Army Field Band and Soldiers\u2019 Chorus, along with a headlining performance from Queen Latifah.<\/p>\n
