Lucille S. \u201cLucy\u201d Nelson, 94, of Corry, Pa., passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at UPMC Hamot, Erie, Pa.<\/p>\n
She was born on April 23, 1932, in Erie, a daughter of the late John and Susan (Janiak) Olszewski.<\/p>\n
Lucy was born in Erie and in middle school moved to McKean, Pa., where she graduated from McKean High School in 1949. After high school, she completed one semester of college and then she started working for General Electric. She worked for several other companies, including, Bliley Electric, Kmart, Grand City and Country Classic. She eventually started working for Peek\u2019n Peak, where she stayed for 32 years until she retired in 2004.<\/p>\n
She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church and GECAC. In her younger years, enjoyed knitting, bowling and going to the beach. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo and watching NASCAR and the Hallmark Channel. Lucy mostly loved spending time with her grandchildren.<\/p>\n
In addition to her parents, she was preceded by daughter, Kathy Nelson, in infancy; son, Jack Nelson Jr.; sister, Shirley Toops; sister, Doris Conn; and brother, Robert Olszewski.<\/p>\n
Lucy is survived by her daughter, Charlotte \u201cChar\u201d (Erik) Rynders of Corry, and four sons, Gary (Sue) Nelson of Beaufort, S.C.; Ronald (Barbara) Nelson of Swannanoa, N.C.; William \u201cBill\u201d (Terri) Nelson of Corry, Pa.; and Craig (Lisa) Nelson of Macungie, Pa.<\/p>\n
She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.<\/p>\n
Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, July 30, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 203 W. Washington St., Corry, PA 16407, from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial mass at 11 a.m.<\/p>\n
