Transit unveiled a specially wrapped light rail vehicle in recognition of America250, the nationwide commemoration of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">The commemorative vehicle draws inspiration from the iconic \u201cSpirit of \u201976\u201d streetcar that operated in Pittsburgh during the nation\u2019s Bicentennial celebration in 1976.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">\u201cNearly 50 years ago, Port Authority marked our nation\u2019s Bicentennial with a memorable \u201cSpirit of \u201d76\u2032 streetcar that became a symbol of celebration throughout our region,\u201d PRT CEO Katharine Kelleman said. \u201cAs America prepares to celebrate its 250th, we\u2019re proud to honor that history and connect today\u2019s riders to a unique chapter in Pittsburgh\u2019s transit story.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" Pennsylvania Trolley Museum\u2019s recent restoration and unveiling of a Bicentennial-era streetcar.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">The commemorative vehicle, numbered #4255, will operate throughout PRT\u2019s light rail system at least through the rest of the year, officials say.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh
