{"id":235189,"date":"2026-07-04T03:44:08","date_gmt":"2026-07-04T03:44:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/235189\/"},"modified":"2026-07-04T03:44:08","modified_gmt":"2026-07-04T03:44:08","slug":"4-kayakers-rescued-from-lake-erie-during-severe-weather","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/235189\/","title":{"rendered":"4 kayakers rescued from Lake Erie during severe weather"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">LORAIN COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) &#8211; As severe weather swept through parts of northeast Ohio Friday night, four kayakers were caught in the storms in Lake Erie.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The Lorain Port and Finance Authority reported kayakers were trapped in the harbor at 8:00 p.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The Lorain Lighthouse Camera captured the moment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The Lorain Police Department\u2019s Marine Patrol battled the high winds and rough water to rescue the kayakers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Lorain police said Officers Riggs and Tavenner rescued all four kayakers and brought them to shore.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Police shared a video of the rescue on social media.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The department added that it wanted the incident to be a reminder of how weather conditions on the lake can change quickly, especially during the holidays.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Police asked anyone who may be heading out on the water to check the forecast before they go.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 WOIO.
