{"id":236515,"date":"2026-07-06T09:19:09","date_gmt":"2026-07-06T09:19:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/236515\/"},"modified":"2026-07-06T09:19:09","modified_gmt":"2026-07-06T09:19:09","slug":"flood-watch-issued-for-parts-of-the-pittsburgh-area","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/236515\/","title":{"rendered":"Flood watch issued for parts of the Pittsburgh area"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A flood watch has been issued for parts of the Pittsburgh area.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/forecast.weather.gov\/wwamap\/wwatxtget.php?cwa=PBZ&amp;wwa=flood%20watch\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">The National Weather Service issued the watch<\/a> for most of western Pennsylvania, parts of eastern Ohio, and parts of the northern West Virginia panhandle, saying that flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.<\/p>\n<p>The watch will be in place from 11 a.m. Monday through the evening hours.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations,&#8221; the NWS said. &#8220;Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>      <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/flood-watch.png#.png\" alt=\"flood-watch.png \" height=\"349\" width=\"620\" class=\" lazyload\"  loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>                  A flood watch has been issued for most of the Pittsburgh area with parts of the region that have previously received rain or flooding being susceptible to flash flooding.<\/p>\n<p>                KDKA Weather Center<\/p>\n<p>The NWS added that the combination of saturated grounds and heavy rain potential creates a higher risk for flash flooding, especially in areas that are low lying or have poor drainage.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/pittsburgh\/news\/slippery-rock-disaster-emergency-rainfall-flooding\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Slippery Rock Borough declared a disaster emergency Sunday<\/a> after excessive and intense rainfall hit the area with flash flooding creating dangerous conditions for residents and first responders.<\/p>\n<p>Conditions throughout the region will dry out Monday evening and although there are a few scattered showers possible through Thursday, the severe weather threat remains low, so we get a little break from that.\u00a0  <\/p>\n<p>The humidity is sticking around with highs in the mid 80s but still feeling in the upper 80s and even low 90s this week for some.<\/p>\n<p>This week is all together very warm and unsettled.
