Today, Pennsylvania\u2019s ample natural gas is strengthening America\u2019s energy security, supporting tens of thousands of family-sustaining jobs, including our skilled building trades. It has bolstered manufacturing and positioned our country to lead in the digital revolution \u2014 all while advancing environmental and conservation progress.<\/p>\n
We\u2019re a nation of innovators, problem solvers, and pioneers. Innovation requires energy. Every factory, hospital, school, home \u2014 every breakthrough technology \u2014 depends upon affordable power that is delivered where it\u2019s needed, when it\u2019s needed.<\/p>\n
Pennsylvania\u2019s role has never been more important. If we are to continue to enhance the quality of life of every American, affordable and clean energy is not optional \u2013 it is essential.<\/p>\n
Today, the Commonwealth produces over 7.7 trillion cubic feet of natural gas each year \u2013 20 percent of the nation\u2019s supply \u2013 making\u00a0 our state one of the world\u2019s leading energy producers.\u00a0 More than half of Pennsylvania households rely on natural gas or propane for home heating, while natural gas generates approximately 60 percent of the state\u2019s electricity.<\/p>\n
At home, that\u2019s translated into billions in consumer energy savings, with Pennsylvania electricity generation rates remaining flat thanks to our energy abundance. But these clear and once unimaginable benefits extend beyond Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n
