ALLENTOWN, Pa.- The LV IronPigs will take on an alternate identity as the \u2018Pitties\u2019 on Aug. 11.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Pitties will face off against the Scranton\/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders at Coca-Cola Park at 6:45 p.m. to raise awareness for local dog shelters and agencies, the IronPigs said in a news release.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The IronPigs will wear custom jerseys and hats to honor Duke\u2019s Delites Dog Adoption Night and a Tail Waggin\u2019 Day presented by Abby Road Veterinary Hospital, according to the report.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Officials said the game will feature dogs available for adoption and \u201cMutts Gone Nuts\u201d and \u201cCasey the Bat Dog,\u201d two dog acts.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The first 1,500 adults ages 18 and over will receive a collapsible dog bowl, according to the release.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The IronPigs said the game-worn jerseys will be auctioned, and caps raffled off with proceeds being split with local animal rescue, Pals for Life. \u00a0<\/p>\n
The auction will open on Aug. 11 at 5 p.m. and close on Aug. 13 at 4 p.m., according to the release.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Officials said attendants can bid by texting \u201cIRONPIGS\u201d to 76278.\u00a0<\/p>\n
