HELLERTOWN, Pa. \u2013 A new family-run restaurant is coming soon to the site of a recently closed sports bar in Northampton County.<\/p>\n
Gigi & Alex, a full-service restaurant offering freshly prepared American cuisine, is expected to open in late summer at 605 Main St. in Hellertown, owner and chef Alejandro Lopez told 69 News.<\/p>\n
The restaurant will occupy a soon-to-be-updated space that was previously home to Wings on Main Sports Bar & Grille, which closed on June 28.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t have an exact opening date yet,\u201d Lopez said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are trying hard to open in August, but we don\u2019t know for sure if that\u2019ll happen. It could be in September.\u201d<\/p>\n
Gigi & Alex, named after Lopez\u2019s daughter and son, will offer a wide array of made-to-order dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner daily.<\/p>\n
The menu will feature breakfast staples such as egg platters and sandwiches, omelettes, French toast and pancakes.<\/p>\n
For lunch and dinner, individuals will be able to enjoy handhelds such as burgers, cheesesteaks and club sandwiches, along with a wide variety of soups, salads and homestyle entrees such as steaks, meatloaf and seafood platters, Lopez said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ll also have appetizers like quesadillas and a variety of pasta dishes,\u201d Lopez added. \u201cWe\u2019re going to have a little bit of everything, all made fresh, just like a diner.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lopez and his team are implementing minor upgrades, including new wall paint and other cosmetic updates.<\/p>\n
The property features multiple dining rooms, and seasonal outdoor dining also will be available on a covered patio.<\/p>\n
The restaurant is tentatively set to operate 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays, Lopez said.<\/p>\n
It will be a family-run establishment with Lopez\u2019s wife, Lucia, and daughter helping out.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy son is a Marine, but he will also help out when he can when he\u2019s home,\u201d Lopez said.<\/p>\n
Lopez has more than 25 years of experience in the restaurant industry, with previous culinary gigs at a variety of other full-service dining establishments.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am very excited to bring [Gigi & Alex] to the local community,\u201d Lopez said. \u201cThis will be my first restaurant, but I\u2019ve worked in other restaurants and learned a lot from them over the years.\u201d<\/p>\n
Gigi & Alex will operate at the site of the former Wings on Main Sparts Bar & Grille, which closed last month after eight years of operation.<\/p>\n
Owner Jay Tulio opened Wings on Main in July 2019 at the site of the former 1774 Grill & Tap restaurant, which closed in 2018 after roughly two years of business.<\/p>\n
The Main Street building also was the longtime home of Mexican restaurant Ricardo\u2019s Original Tavern House (formerly Pancho\u2019s Villa), which closed in 2016 after nearly 50 years of business.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs of Sunday June 28, 2026 we will be closing our doors at 8:00pm for good, to venture on. Keep an eye open for a new addition to Hellertown at this location. Thank you again for the years of support.”<\/p>\n
