{"id":236930,"date":"2026-07-06T19:44:12","date_gmt":"2026-07-06T19:44:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/236930\/"},"modified":"2026-07-06T19:44:12","modified_gmt":"2026-07-06T19:44:12","slug":"audit-finds-philly-school-district-owes-2-8m-to-more-than-700-former-employees","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/236930\/","title":{"rendered":"Audit finds Philly School District owes $2.8M to more than 700 former employees"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) \u2014 An audit by the city controller says the Philadelphia School District owes millions to former employees for paid time off, and the district also needs to do a better job of keeping track of its property.<\/p>\n<p>The school district owes $2.8 million to more than 700 employees who have retired or left, according to an <a href=\"https:\/\/controller.phila.gov\/school-district-audit-finds-more-than-700-former-employees-are-owed-2-8-million\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">audit released Thursday<\/a> by City Controller Christy Brady. <\/p>\n<p>Unionized employees are entitled to termination payouts within 75 days of their final day, but the audit shows some employees have been waiting four years or more.
