{"id":237015,"date":"2026-07-06T21:50:30","date_gmt":"2026-07-06T21:50:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/237015\/"},"modified":"2026-07-06T21:50:30","modified_gmt":"2026-07-06T21:50:30","slug":"train-excursion-to-feature-jersey-grays-reenactors-tell-story-of-sullivan-trail","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/237015\/","title":{"rendered":"Train excursion to feature Jersey Grays reenactors, tell story of Sullivan Trail"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#13;<\/p>\n<p>SCRANTON \u2014 The Lackawanna Historical Society planned a unique experience to continue our summer celebration of America250.<\/p>\n<p>On Aug. 15, a special Reading Blue Mountain and Northern RR Co. train excursion \u2014 \u201cRevolution on the Rails: The Birth of a Nation \u2014 the Rise of a Railroad\u201d \u2014 will travel from Pittston to Tunkhannock along Sullivan\u2019s Trail, while Revolutionary War reenactors, the Jersey Grays, provide details about the preparations and impacts of the Sullivan Campaign throughout the Wyoming Valley and into New York in 1779.<\/p>\n<p>The Jersey Grays living history organization is a steadfast group of authentic reenactors who have portrayed the 3rd New Jersey Battalion, the \u201cJersey Grays\u201d \u2014 Capt. Bloomfield\u2019s Co. since 2014.<\/p>\n<p>The train will depart Pittston at 10 a.m. and arrive at Riverside Park in Tunkhannock at 11 a.m. At the park, the general public is encouraged to join train passengers for additional historical programs by the Jersey Grays, including some demonstrations.
