The Jefferson Educational Society (JES) has announced that former First Lady Michelle Obama will be joining its 2026 Global Summit speaker lineup as part of the organization’s annual fall event series.<\/p>\n
The event, titled \u201cA Moderated Conversation with Michelle Obama,\u201d is scheduled for Oct. 12, at 6 p.m. at the Erie Insurance Arena.<\/p>\n
The Jefferson Educational Society is nationally recognized for its annual Global Summit, which brings prominent leaders, innovators and thought leaders to the region for discussions on issues affecting the nation and the world.<\/p>\n
\u201cEach year, the Global Summit connects the region with some of the most influential voices of our time, which is why we are honored Mrs. Obama will be joining us in conversation,\u201d said JES President Dr. Ferki Ferati.<\/p>\n
\u201cLast year’s summit demonstrated what is possible when a community commits to intellectual engagement at the highest level. Mrs. Obama continues that tradition, bringing a unique perspective shaped by achievement across multiple fields and a career defined by innovation, leadership and impact, even in uncertain times,\u201d Ferati said.<\/p>\n

Individuals interested in becoming members can sign up through the Jefferson Educational Society’s website<\/a>.<\/p>\n The 2026 Global Summit will feature 17 in-person events and 22 speakers, offering attendees opportunities to engage with experts and leaders from a variety of fields.<\/p>\n The annual summit is hosted by JES in partnership with community sponsors, including LECOM Health and Erie Insurance.<\/p>\n
