You might just see bears walking overhead.<\/p>\n<p>Gould and Potter Crossing, an elevated trail for bears, is now open in the newly established Francis J. Carey Bear Country.<\/p>\n<p>The trail stretches 60 feet and is 16 feet above the ground. It is the latest addition to the Zoo360 trail system, which was first launched at the zoo in 2011.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrancis J. Carey Bear Country is enhancing the lives of our bears! They are now using our first ever Zoo360 trail for bears, the Gould &amp; Potter Crossing,\u201d said President and CEO Dr. Jo-Elle Mogerman. \u201cAt Philadelphia Zoo, our mission is to flourish as an urban oasis where people and animals thrive, transformative memories are made, and our passion for conservation helps save wildlife.\u00a0 When our guests see our bears walk over their heads, they will have a moment of awe they will remember for years to come.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are so proud of our animal care specialists\u2014 they have done an extraordinary job helping our bears adjust to their new homes,\u201d said Vice President of Animal Wellbeing Rachel Metz. \u201cIt is amazing to see our bears experience and thrive with all the improvements made to Carey Bear Country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/Aversa-PR-Bear-Country-Zoo360-.jpg\" loading=\"lazy\"   alt=\" \"\/><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\tAversa PRAversa PR<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/Aversa-PR-Bear-Country-Zoo360-2.jpg\" loading=\"lazy\"   alt=\" \"\/><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\tAversa PRAversa PR<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcphiladelphia.com\/critter-corner\/philadelphia-zoo-bear-country-transformation-opening-details\/4408031\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bear Country opened to the public back in June<\/a>, after going through a $25 million transformation. <\/p>\n<p>The a state-of-the-art facility includes refreshed and upgraded habitats, as well as a third, brand-new habitat, and dedicated behind-the-scenes indoor and outdoor den spaces to support breeding programs.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond the Zoo360 trail, visitors will be able to get closer to the bears than ever before with the new cave-like glass viewing areas.<\/p>\n<p>There are also interactive, educational signage throughout the space to tell the stories of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.philadelphiazoo.org\/animals\/andean-bear\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Andean bears<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.philadelphiazoo.org\/animals\/sloth-bear\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">sloth bears<\/a>, the two endangered bear species you will see when visiting.<\/p>\n<p>Bear Country is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is included in general admission or Zoo membership. <\/p>\n<p>For more information, visit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.philadelphiazoo.org\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">philadelphiazoo.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The next time you visit the Philadelphia Zoo, don&#8217;t forget to look up!
