A DoorDash delivery driver was shot in the back of the head and killed in Philadelphia’s Kingsessing neighborhood on Tuesday night, Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said. <\/p>\n
Officers responded to reports of a shooting at the 1000 block of South Ithan Street at around 9:30 p.m., where they found a 42-year-old man on the ground with a gunshot wound to the back of the head, Small said. A car still running and a DoorDash bag was also found at the scene. <\/p>\n
The unidentified man was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10 p.m., Small said. <\/p>\n
Two spent rifle round shell casings were found within inches of the man, indicating that he was shot at close range, Small said. <\/p>\n
Investigators believe that the shooting was targeted, and three masked men in dark clothing have been identified as the suspects, but images were not immediately available for the public, Small said. <\/p>\n
The car left running at the scene belonged to the victim, Small said.<\/p>\n
Police also checked with the address that was listed for the delivery the victim was making and discovered that the people living there had not ordered a DoorDash delivery, Small said.<\/p>\n
A bag with food was also found about a block away from the crime scene, but investigators are not yet sure if the bag is connected to the shooting, Small said. <\/p>\n
