The Sioux City Council approved the first reading of a traffic ordinance for utility vehicles within city limits in its meeting Monday.<\/p>\n
According to a city memo, the ordinance allows UTVs to operate on city streets, but there are limitations. <\/p>\n
It says when creating the ordinance city staff considered noise, nuisance, and traffic safety and included regulations regarding the issues in the ordinance.<\/p>\n
Some of the regulations prohibit the vehicles from operating on trails, educational facilities, and public cemeteries. The UTVs are allowed in alleys and one-or two-lane streets.<\/p>\n
Any violation of the ordinance\u2019s regulations may result in a fine.<\/p>\n
