YORK COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) \u2013 A popular Pennsylvania State Park\u2019s campground will close until early 2028 for renovations.<\/p>\n
The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources announced Monday that Gifford Pinchot State Park will receive $8 million worth of upgrades.<\/p>\n
Close<\/a><\/p>\n Thanks for signing up!<\/p>\n Watch for us in your inbox.<\/p>\n Subscribe Now<\/p>\n Officials plan to replace the campground shower house and restroom facilities, which were built in the 1970s, with \u201cmodern,\u00a0accessible, and family-friendly amenities.\u201d<\/p>\n Construction will require the full campground to close starting September 6, 2026, through early 2028. Day-use areas and activities such as boating, hiking, and swimming will remain open during campground construction.<\/p>\n \u201cCampers at Gifford Pinchot have long enjoyed these parks\u2019 natural beauty, and we\u2019re committed to ensuring their facilities meet the same high standards,\u201d said DCNR State Parks Director John Hallas. \u201cThese new amenities will offer cleaner, safer, and more accessible spaces for all visitors. We appreciate the patience of our loyal campers as we make these improvements.\u201d<\/p>\n The park will also receive new ADA parking areas, paving and paths from campsites to the restrooms, tree plantings, and the installation of vegetative swales.<\/p>\n
