Bill Eckenrode, 75, of the Green Ridge section of Scranton, died Friday, July 3, 2026, at Geisinger CMC, surrounded by his loving family. His wife of 53 years is the former Janette Cimino.<\/p>\n<p>\nBorn in Scranton, he was the son of the late Paul W. and Margaret O\u2019Malley Eckenrode. A graduate of Scranton Central High School, Class of 1968, and East Stroudsburg State College.<\/p>\n<p>\nBill enjoyed a distinguished career spanning more than five decades in the contracting industry, earning a reputation as a master carpenter whose skill, craftsmanship, and integrity were admired by clients and tradesmen alike. A true gentleman in every sense of the word, Bill was known for his kindness, selflessness, and genuine concern for others. Universally loved and respected, he left a lasting impression on all who knew him.<\/p>\n<p>\nBill was an avid sports fan who proudly cheered for the Philadelphia Phillies, Penn State football, and the Kansas City Chiefs. He especially treasured trips to see games in Happy Valley and at the Vet with family and friends. An accomplished golfer and bowler, he enjoyed friendly competition and the camaraderie that accompanied both sports. Blessed with a tremendous sense of humor, Bill loved to laugh and brought joy to those around him with his quick wit and warm personality.<\/p>\n<p>\nAbove all, Bill cherished family and the traditions that brought them together. Whether celebrating holidays, gathering for special occasions, or simply spending time with those he loved, he understood the importance of family bonds and took great pride in carrying forward the traditions and values that defined his entire family. His love, guidance, generosity, and unwavering support will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who were fortunate to know and love him.<\/p>\n<p>\nAlso surviving are daughter Carrie Eckenrode, Scranton; sons Eric and wife Lauren, Clarks Summit; Jeff Eckenrode, Scranton; grandchildren Cullen, Kayleigh, Lear, Penn, and Ford; sister Karen Grzywacz; brothers Kevin Eckenrode and wife Melanie, and Timothy Regan and wife Cathy; sisters-in-law Cindy Trischetta, and Dee Bochicchio, brother-in-law Dave Cimino and wife Diane (Bo); many nieces and nephews.<\/p>\n<p>\nHe was preceded in death by infant grandchildren, Kaden, Joey, and Grace; devoted stepfather Jack Regan; brother Paul Eckenrode; father and mother-in-law Frank &amp; Eleanor Cimino; brothers-in-law Bill Bochicchio, Larry Trischetta and Jerry Grzywacz.<\/p>\n<p>\nA Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 am in St. Paul\u2019s Church, 1510 Penn Ave., Scranton. Interment in St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Dunmore, will be private at the convenience of the family. Friends and family may pay their respects Thursday from 4-6 pm in the Solfanelli-Fiorillo Funeral Home Inc., 1030 N. Main Ave., Scranton and also Friday morning from 9-10 am in St. Paul\u2019s Church.
