PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) \u2014 Philly\u2019s own Freeway is bringing back his free summer festival and the rapper said it will be the biggest installment yet.<\/p>\n

Fresh from his performance at the \u201cOne Philly\u201d concert on the Fourth of July, the State Property rapper told KYW Newsradio he partnered with City Council President Kenyatta Johnson for the third annual event.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re growing and we have some exciting things going on this year,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n

Not just a music festival, the Free Fest<\/a> event at the Philadelphia Navy Yard on Aug. 1 also reflects Freeway\u2019s work as a health advocate. The rapper is introducing a health and wellness village that will offer screenings.<\/p>\n

In its 3rd year, in line with Freeway\u2019s work as a health advocate, he\u2019s introducing a new health and wellness village, offering health screenings, and something new. And along with that, he\u2019s launching another initiative. \u201cWe\u2019re giving away 250 blood pressure cups in honor of 250 years of America,\u201d he announced.<\/p>\n

For the first time, Free Fest will include a Community Ambassador program, mobilizing around 90 community members to be front-facing volunteers for the event. He\u2019s also launching a workforce development program at the festival that includes career preparation services.<\/p>\n

However, it wouldn\u2019t be Free Fest without a performance from Freeway, and he said to expect a full set featuring digital media students from his Freedom Thinkers Academy<\/a> program.<\/p>\n
