Dave Argall (R-29) and State Rep. Tim Twardzik (R-23) recently announced their intention to introduce legislation in their respective chambers that would name a portion of I-81 in Schuylkill County as the \u201cPSP Trooper Michael E. Pahira Jr. Memorial Interchange.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pennsylvania State Trooper Michael Pahira Jr. was struck and killed by a tractor-trailer while performing a routine commercial vehicle safety inspection on a section of Interstate 81 in Cass Twp. on July 1.<\/p>\n<p>Pahira served with the Pennsylvania State Police for almost 20 years and was assigned to Troop L in Frackville.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.republicanherald.com\/2026\/07\/08\/trooper-michael-pahira-remembered-during-service-as-having-the-heart-of-a-giant\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Funeral services<\/a> were held at North Schuylkill Jr.\/Sr. High School on Wednesday, where Pahira was remembered for having \u201cthe heart of a giant.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn honor of his memory, Senator Argall as well as myself, will be introducing legislation designating Exit 119 on I-81 as the PSP Trooper Michael E. Pahira, Jr. Memorial Interchange,\u201d Twardzik said in a memo circulated to House members. \u201cPlease join in honoring Trooper Pahira\u2019s courageous service and ultimate sacrifice, by adding your name as a cosponsor to this invaluable legislation.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"State Sen.
