{"id":239680,"date":"2026-07-09T21:16:07","date_gmt":"2026-07-09T21:16:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/239680\/"},"modified":"2026-07-09T21:16:07","modified_gmt":"2026-07-09T21:16:07","slug":"gofundme-started-for-severely-injured-police-officer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/239680\/","title":{"rendered":"GoFundMe started for severely injured police officer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A GoFundMe is underway to help support a Pittsburgh-area school resource officer after a serious crash led to severe injuries.<\/p>\n<p>Scott Bailey of Kerr Elementary School in Fox Chapel was injured a month ago after an off-road, side-by-side, vehicle he was a passenger in rolled multiple times in a wooded area.<\/p>\n<p>Bailey\u2019s right hand was severely injured and \u201chis thumb as basically severed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also sustained internal bleeding and needed to be transported to the hospital via medical helicopter.<\/p>\n<p>Bailey was eventually discharged after spending three days on a ventilator in the ICU but was quickly back in the hospital with a blood clot in his lung.<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gofundme.com\/f\/support-officer-baileys-recovery-journey?utm_id=97757_v0_s00_e227_tv2_tp1_a1demonlapljgt&amp;fbclid=IwY2xjawS8xPNleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZBAyMjIwMzkxNzg4MjAwODkyAAEeHAJeIB_VnDSmwK1puNmt1jyntsxB4ZgROYvTuyhfJpEFJA0Y63mpBs_rVZc_aem_SFCjO643coGjEYewIr1OKg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">GoFundMe<\/a>, Officer Bailey is back home but is unsure how long his recovery will take.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is causing Officer Bailey much financial anxiety, as we all know, he works CONSTANTLY!!!!,\u201d the campaign says. \u201cHe has been a police officer for 32 years!
