With the 33rd annual Frontier League All-Star Game taking place July 15, pitcher Edwin Sanchez was selected to represent the Crushers.<\/p>\n
On July 6, Sanchez was selected to be a part of the Midwest Conference\u2019s all-star team for the 2026 Frontier League All-Star Game in Florence, Ky.<\/p>\n
\u201c(Sanchez) is fantastic for us,\u201d Crushers manager Jared Lemieux said. \u201cHe came in right out of (Bethune-Cookman), and I kind of threw him in the fire. I put him in some stressful situations, and he excelled.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sanchez will be in the bullpen alongside six other pitchers (Gage Vailes, Buddie Pindel, Chris Barraza, Caleb Riedel, Landon Ginn, A.J. Campbell), as Washington\u2019s Kobe Foster will start for the Midwest Conference.<\/p>\n
Sanchez is in his first season in the Frontier League.<\/p>\n
From Guayama, Puerto Rico, the left-handed pitcher has a 4-2 record with a 5.45 ERA, 22 walks and 26 strikeouts.<\/p>\n
\u201c(Sanchez) is settled comfortably in our rotation,\u201d Lemieux said. \u201cHe is a guy who can throw multiple pitches for strikes, keeps guys off-balance and is a competitor. When guys get on (base), he gets better.\u201d<\/p>\n
One of his best performances of the season was a five-inning no-hitter against Evansville on June 18. The Crushers went on to win, 5-1.<\/p>\n
In a recent 13-10 victory at Mississippi, Sanchez earned a save.<\/p>\n
\u201c(Sanchez) is a quiet kid, but he is fierce when he is out there. With him speaking primarily Spanish limits what we can talk about, he is always ready to take the ball,\u201d Lemieux said.<\/p>\n
Before playing for the Crushers, Sanchez previously played for Bethune-Cookman, a Division I program for which he won pitcher of the year honors in the SWAC (Southwestern Athletic Conference).<\/p>\n
\u201cHe is a good young talent.
