{"id":240433,"date":"2026-07-10T18:56:08","date_gmt":"2026-07-10T18:56:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/240433\/"},"modified":"2026-07-10T18:56:08","modified_gmt":"2026-07-10T18:56:08","slug":"rower-pulls-person-from-schuylkill-river-after-car-submerges-underwater","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/240433\/","title":{"rendered":"Rower pulls person from Schuylkill River after car submerges underwater"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A collegiate rower sprang into action to save the life of a person trapped inside a car that had driven into the Schuylkill River on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Crews were called to the banks of the river along Kelly Drive around 12:30 p.m. and learned that a vehicle was submerged.<\/p>\n<p>      <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/kelly-drive-car-into-schuylkill-river-rescue.jpg#.jpeg\" alt=\"kelly-drive-car-into-schuylkill-river-rescue.jpg \" height=\"349\" width=\"620\" class=\" lazyload\"  loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>                Chopper 3\/CBS News Philadelphia<\/p>\n<p>One person was rescued from the vehicle by a civilian who jumped into the water and brought the person back to shore.<\/p>\n<p>Video from Camilo Echavarria showed the vehicle while it was still floating.<\/p>\n<p>Recovery efforts were continuing and the car had not yet been pulled from the water.
