CLEVELAND (WJW) \u2014 The U.S. Coast Guard Sunday morning said the search for a 6-year-old who was reported to be in Lake Erie near a Cleveland<\/a> marina Saturday night is now a recovery mission.<\/p>\n

\u00a0National Weather Service warns of hazardous swimming conditions\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

Crews responded to the East 55th Street Marina around 8:45 p.m. on July 11 where a child was reported to be in the water, according to Cleveland Fire.<\/p>\n

The fire department’s boat scanned the water several times and deployed two divers, fire officials said.<\/p>\n

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources also deployed divers, however the child was not located, Petty Officer 3rd Class Michael Lauofo, with USCG Great Lakes, told Fox 8 News.<\/p>\n

Helicopters, drones and sonar were also used during the search.<\/p>\n

A shoe belonging to the child was found in the water, and a witness reported hearing a splash in the area where the shoe was found, Lauofo said.<\/p>\n

Crews, which included the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Cleveland Metroparks and the Cleveland Fire Department, called off the search around 10 p.m. Saturday.<\/p>\n

They were back at the marina Sunday morning where the recovery effort was ongoing.<\/p>\n

It’s not known how the child ended up in the water.<\/p>\n
