PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Baseball’s mid-summer classic returns to Philadelphia for first time in thirty years.<\/p>\n
The top sluggers in baseball are trying to hit bombs and win the Home Run Derby at Citizens Bank Park.<\/p>\n
“I’m having a great time here everything’s beautiful,” says Tyree Gardner of Norristown.<\/p>\n
And at the All-Star village inside of the Pennsylvania Convention Center, baseball fans from across the country can meet MLB legends, grab a ballpark bite and check out dozens of fun interactive attractions.<\/p>\n
“I’ve done the pitching and I got a ball signed by a player,\u201d says Jizelle Sancos of New Jersey.<\/p>\n
“We did this thing where like you drive remote control trucks around the track,” another fan says. “All the mascots signed my hat, it\u2019s so fun”<\/p>\n
“What do you guys wanna see?\u201d 69 News reporter Amelia Sack asked two young fans.<\/p>\n
“Philly fanatic,” they responded immediately.<\/p>\n
Whether you want to meet a mascot or strap on a velcro suit and be a “home run robber”, the event has something for everyone.<\/p>\n
“Yeah, this is a blast all the activations lots of stuff they’re generously giving, meeting cool people from the other cities but the Philly vibe is really where it\u2019s at,” says Doug Forlano of Norristown.<\/p>\n
All-Star Week is in Philadelphia for the first time since 1996, making this year extra special for the city and its fans.<\/p>\n
“What do you think about the city of Philadelphia?” Amelia asked a fan.<\/p>\n
“I like cheesesteaks,” they responded.<\/p>\n
“I love the excitement. I think it\u2019s great that the 250th and the All-Star game is here at the same time. It\u2019s just kind of a really nice summer to be in the city,\u201d explains Wayne Demore of Langhorne.<\/p>\n
