One last look at the Pittsburgh Steelers\u2019 2025 season. Right after the year wrapped up, we wrote about the team\u2019s top plays of the year. A different spin on this. Here\u2019s my five personal favorite obscure plays of the year. Not ones that made the highlight reel, but fun little moments I still think about from the 17-game slate.<\/p>\n
1. Christian Kuntz\u2019s Perfect Snap<\/p>\n
Chris Boswell was money to help lift Pittsburgh to a Week One win over the New York Jets. So was Christian Kuntz. Despite playing through a painful sternum injury, Kuntz showed his toughness and suited up. On Boswell\u2019s 56-yarder in the second quarter to take a 10-9 lead, Kuntz was perfect.<\/p>\n
An elite snap to make life easy on holder and punter Corliss Waitman. The placement. The spin of the laces, something the absolutely snapper controls,<\/a> so that when Waitman caught it, they were already facing out. All Waitman had to do was put the ball down with the proper lean. Boswell did the rest to nail the kick.<\/p>\n It\u2019s beautiful.\u00a0<\/p>\n Take a minute to appreciate this *perfect* snap from LS Christian Kuntz on Chris Boswell’s 56-yarder. <\/p>\n Accurate with the laces out (yes, NFL snappers control the laces). D\u2019Shawn Jamison\u2019s Forced Fair Catch<\/p>\n Impact the game anyway you can. That\u2019s the spot cornerback D\u2019Shawn Jamison found himself in during his cup of coffee seeing the field with Pittsburgh. After working his way up from fifth-string slot cornerback in training camp to stick on the practice squad, Jamison got the chance to suit up late in the season.<\/p>\n In the pivotal Week 18 matchup, Jamison forced a key fair catch. With Waitman standing in the end zone, the Ravens were in prime position to have great field position. Maybe even start in Pittsburgh territory.<\/p>\n At the bottom of the screen, Jamison split the double-vice, showed his high-end speed, and forced a fair catch. Baltimore still took over in a favorable spot, but it was only their 35-yard line. Far worse field position than they would\u2019ve preferred. A 53-yard net punt \u2013 an elite number.<\/p>\n Baltimore drove to Pittsburgh\u2019s 42 but had to punt. Give them another 10 yards they could\u2019ve had on that punt return, and their drive ends in a field goal, not a punt. That could\u2019ve been the difference between a Ravens win.<\/p>\n 3. Spencer Anderson\u2019s First NFL Reception<\/p>\n It\u2019s always a good time when an offensive lineman catches a pass. Anderson spent much of the year as a tackle-eligible, moving around the formation as an effective blocker. But he debuted on the box score in Week 8, catching a 4-yard pass in the flat from Aaron Rodgers.<\/p>\n Look at those soft hands and the fight for a couple extra yards. Not bad.<\/p>\n 4. Cole Holcomb\u2019s Forced Fumble<\/p>\n For linebacker Cole Holcomb, it was a long road back. A devastating 2023 knee injury we still don\u2019t know the true details of. An entire 2024 season missed. That would\u2019ve ended the career of many. Holcomb persevered and returned, fully cleared for 2025\u2019s training camp.<\/p>\n Holcomb re-took the field in the season opener and took his first defensive snaps the following week. He saw extensive playing time in Week Three. With Malik Harrison shelved with injury and Pittsburgh\u2019s run defense struggling, Holcomb subbed in as a base package linebacker. He immediately made an impact, forcing a fumble on RB Rhamondre Stevenson in what was an omen of the five turnovers Pittsburgh forced that day.<\/p>\n A key moment for Pittsburgh\u2019s defense in an eventual win over the future AFC champions, but a big personal moment for Holcomb to prove he was back and still helping the Steelers win games.<\/p>\n 5. Logan Lee\u2019s Bat<\/p>\n Across Weeks 17 and 18, Logan Lee played three combined defensive snaps, and he managed to bat down two passes. His swat against Baltimore was critical and unplanned. Lee wasn\u2019t even supposed to be on the field but raced onto it when the team needed a sub. <\/a><\/p>\n He knocked down Lamar Jackson\u2019s pass to the flat that, if caught, would\u2019ve put RB Derrick Henry in space with a blocker in front.<\/p>\n That set up a 3rd and 16 and a Ravens punt. A key stop in a back-and-forth affair.<\/p>\n
