I thought we could take a look today at offensive line investments across the NFL. I decided to do the valuations a bit differently here. For any player who was on a non drafted contract I used their standard APY to calculate their average salary value. For a draft pick I used their projected value based on the Fitzgerald-Spielberger draft chart and the position they play. While this may not be as accurate for the production of 4th year rookies where we have a better understanding of how good the player is, it does give us a decent way to look at upside that exists with the young players on the roster. I used the top 10 valued players to take into account how much depth a team has rather than just the top 5. Not surprisingly, the Eagles ranked tops in the NFL in this metric with over $110 million per season invested in their offensive line. The only other team over $100 million was the Panthers. The Panthers group likely has more upside of the two. Their non draft picks are a full year younger on average than the Eagles group (The Eagles near 30 year old average should be alarming) and they have $38 million potentially invested in young talent compared to $22 million for the Eagles.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s unfair. It\u2019s despicably subjective. The double standard being used is laughable\u2026but I can\u2019t stop this sinking feeling that Jalen Hurts will not be included in this offseason\u2019s NFL Top-100 list.<\/p>\n Here are the facts:<\/p>\n Brock Purdy, despite an injury-riddled 2025 season, has been ranked at #85.<\/p>\n Baker Mayfield, who saw a decline in his performance last season, was placed at #77.<\/p>\n Jordan Love, the alleged spiritual successor to Aaron Rodgers, sits at the #72 spot.<\/p>\n Lamar Jackson, who is consistently lauded as an indisputable top-5 QB, plummeted to #69.<\/p>\n In the ESPN article<\/a>, all four of the QBs above were not only ranked higher than Hurts, but were categorized in whole tiers higher than Jalen.<\/p>\n Hurts\u2019 ranking in the Top-100 list has been on a decline over the course of the last 3 years: from #3 in 2023, to #15 in 2024, and finally #19 in 2025.<\/p>\n So here we find ourselves, on a random week in the offseason, faced with another atrocious feed-fodder article ranking the league\u2019s Quarterbacks according to top execs, coaches, and scouts. I\u2019d love for these individuals who contributed to the list to be published publicly, because with all this anonymity we have a list with absolutely zero accountability which nosedives into a \u201cif you don\u2019t laugh you\u2019ll cry\u201d situation:<\/p>\n Jalen doesn\u2019t even sit in the top half of the league.<\/p>\n Dak Prescott, who has lost 2.5x more games in the playoffs than he has won, is in the #6 spot.<\/p>\n Sam Darnold has one Nick-Foles-esque year and finds himself just outside the top 10.<\/p>\n Trevor Lawrence has only one playoff victory to his name, and has thrown nearly as many interceptions as touchdowns during his playoff tenure\u2026but still ranks higher than Hurts.<\/p>\n So when I see the names of higher rated QBs in the 80s, 70s, and 60s of the top-100 player rankings, I began to wonder: is Jalen gonna be snubbed from this list? The Hurts-hate seems to be at an all time high, and I am coming to conclusion that he is not perceived as a top-100 player. Given the recent placement of Lamar from #2 to #69, dropping Jalen from the #19 spot completely out of the ranking certainly doesn\u2019t seem impossible.<\/p>\n Now do I ultimately care about the NFL top-100? Not really. Does it make me frustrated to see the disgusting duplicity demonstrated by these talking heads from around the league? Heck yes. If anything, giving Jalen any poster material is going to add more fuel to his fire to prove people wrong.<\/a> Personally, I know that QB1 is an elite player who wins games. He\u2019s a proven champion and overcomer. His list of achievements eclipses that of most of the \u201cbest\u201d who are currently playing the game. Screw what the rest of the nation believes about Hurts. No one likes us, we don\u2019t care.<\/p>\n And who knows! Maybe this post will be obsolete in a few days, when he\u2019s revealed to be at #65\u2026but I\u2019m got a feeling that his name is just not going to come up. My prediction is that Jalen Hurts will not be included in the 2026 top-100 players.<\/p>\n That being said, I\u2019m curious what you think: at what point in the ranking reveal will you be confident that Jalen has been snubbed from the top-100 list? The latest position of focus in ESPN\u2019s annual NFL survey of league executives, coaches, and scouts is the most important one in football: quarterback. You will not find Super Bowl LIX MVP Jalen Hurts ranked in the top 10, however.<\/p>\n
Andrew Mukuba was selected in the second round of the 2025 draft, and he won a starting safety job despite missing time during training camp with shoulder and hamstring injuries. During his rookie season, Mukuba compiled 46 tackles, two INTs, and three pass breakups. His biggest play of the season came in Week 2, when he picked off a Patrick Mahomes pass intended for Travis Kelce deep in Eagles territory, and returned it 41 yards. That was also easily the biggest play in that game. Mukuba was up and down in the games he played, but was beginning to earn Vic Fangio\u2019s trust before he suffered a broken fibula Week 12 in Dallas. That ended his season. Mukuba should be a better player in 2026. We\u2019ll see. But the bigger concern is his durability, since, you know, he had shoulder, hamstring, and fibula injuries last season. Mukuba measured in at 5\u201911, 186 at the 2025 NFL Combine, and his ability to stay on the field was a potential knock on scouting reports. Well, we saw that his rookie season.<\/p>\n
Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio on the safety competition: \u201cIt\u2019s open. I think Marcus (Epps) is someone that will put up good claim to it. In base, it will be Cooper (DeJean). When we go to nickel and Coop comes up and plays nickel, it\u2019ll be Epps. We\u2019re taking a good look at Michael Carter back there. Andre Sam. Then we signed an undrafted free agent, Gush (Kapena Gushiken). J.T. Gray has been mainly a special teams player, but he\u2019ll get a look. We\u2019ll look at all those guys. It\u2019s an open competition.\u201d<\/p>\n
Does he know enough to help restore Jalen Hurts and the Eagles to dominant form? In one year, the Eagles\u2019 offense went from a pick-your-poison attack that helped Philadelphia win the Super Bowl to a sputtering three-and-out machine. All of the same stars returned last season from that prolific 2024 campaign, but offensive coordinator Kellen Moore had departed for the New Orleans Saints\u2019 head job, and neither his replacement, Kevin Patullo, nor head coach Nick Sirianni had the answers. Dysfunction replaced dominance. A.J. Brown couldn\u2019t hide his displeasure and ultimately forced his way out of Philly, and a year after winning Super Bowl MVP honors, Hurts drew heavy scrutiny. Continuing the leaguewide trend of hiring young, unproven offensive coordinators, Sirianni turns to Mannion in hopes that this Matt LaFleur disciple can help restore balance, effectiveness and greater unpredictability to the Eagles\u2019 offense. Mannion has just two seasons of coaching experience (offensive assistant in 2024, quarterbacks coach in 2025) to his name, however. Does he have the in-depth insight and creativity needed to solve all of the Eagles\u2019 ills?<\/p>\n
1) Hurts\u2019 newest offensive scheme. Sean Mannion is the latest offensive coordinator for the Eagles and Jalen Hurts, who truly found offensive bliss in 2022, his second and final season with Shane Steichen. Since then, Hurts has had a different offensive coordinator in each season. Even with Kellen Moore during a Super Bowl-winning 2024 campaign, Philadelphia\u2019s passing game ebbed and flowed while running back Saquon Barkley largely fueled the offense. Drama was more prevalent last season than offensive chemistry, as the passing game ranked 23rd in yards and the sputtering running attack diminished from the previous season\u2019s dominance. Hurts had a career-best 25 touchdown passes but snapped a four-season streak of double-digit rushing scores, finishing with eight. Last year\u2019s offense was far too predictable and stagnated on a seemingly weekly basis, held to 20 points or less in 10 games, including a dismal 23-19 playoff loss to the 49ers. With O-line guru Jeff Stoutland no longer coaching a group that was really the heartbeat of both of the Eagles\u2019 Super Bowl squads under Nick Sirianni, the offense is undergoing more change than the annual alterations everyone\u2019s accustomed to. A.J. Brown is gone, traded to the Patriots in an offseason storyline that lingered for months. All eyes are on Hurts, whose past accomplishments don\u2019t seem to hold too much weight with a feisty fanbase that believes its strong roster should be vying for Lombardi Trophies every year.<\/p>\n
After just two seasons in the NFL, Quinyon Mitchell is already widely considered to be one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL and was named to his first All-Pro team in 2024. The scary part? He\u2019s still getting better. \u201cI honestly feel like it\u2019s the past,\u201d Mitchell said this spring. \u201cI\u2019m not an All-Pro anymore. It\u2019s a new season so I don\u2019t view myself as an All-Pro anymore. Just trying to get better.\u201d Mitchell had a tremendous rookie season in 2024 (he was drafted at 22nd overall), finishing second in Defensive Rookie of the Year voting as the top cornerback on a Super Bowl-winning team. He followed up his rookie season by being a Pro Bowler and an All-Pro in Year 2. The only thing that has been missing from his game, at least in the regular season, has been interceptions. Mitchell doesn\u2019t have a single pick in 32 regular season games.<\/p>\n
2004 \u2013 PHI 31, NYG 17. We could call this the TO game. It was his Eagles debut and he didn\u2019t disappoint, going 8-68 with 3 TDs. Donovan McNabb finally had a star WR and took advantage of it, going 26 of 36 for 330 yards and 4 TDs. He went on to have the best season of his career. Amazing the difference the supporting cast can make. Brian Westbrook ran for 119 yards and went 3-42 as a receiver, showing what a dynamic weapon he had become. The Eagles defense gave up 413 yards, but had 5 sacks and a takeaway. Jerome McDougle had a sack and a huge hit of Eli Manning, who was making his pro debut. The Eagles played well overall and you could see some signs that this was going to be a special team. The only downer was losing rookie OG Shawn Andrews to injury. If he had stayed healthy, the Eagles could have been even better. He was a special talent. Still, this was a fun day. TO gave the Eagles some juice that they had been lacking for a long time.<\/p>\n
Former NFL receiver Alshon Jeffery\u2019s case of felony insurance fraud is on track to be resolved with something far less than the maximum potential sentence of five years in prison. Via Brent Schrotenboer of USA Today, Jeffery and prosecutors in California have reached an agreement that will result in the dismissal of two fraud charges<\/a>, if he complies with his end of it within 60 days. Per the report, Jeffery is required to perform 50 hours of volunteer work and to pay $840.46 to Kemper Insurance, $500 to the California Department of Insurance Anti-Fraud Fund, and $2,500 to the driver of the car that Jeffery\u2019s car struck in September<\/p>\n
Week 7 & 12 – Philadelphia Eagles. WR Makai Lemon. Shout out to CB Riq Woolen as someone to watch for the Eagles, but the most intriguing newcomer in Philadelphia is A.J. Brown\u2019s replacement, rookie WR Makai Lemon. Not only is it an interesting storyline about how they traded up with Dallas to acquire Lemon in the draft, but how he\u2019s going to replace an All-Pro after Brown was traded to the New England Patriots.<\/p>\n
Adam Peters made roster moves big and small this offseason. The Commanders general manager kept busy trying to get his team back on track after a 5-12 disaster of an encore from an NFC title game appearance in his first season with Washington. That included 17 free-agent signings, eight players retained in free agency and six contract extensions. Peters let several others walk right out the door. He also made six NFL draft picks, and then added nine undrafted players. He was heavily involved in the decision to keep head coach Dan Quinn around and replace both coordinators \u2013 there was surely input from others here — with David Blough promoted to OC and Daronte Jones the next DC. That\u2019s a ton of movement for one offseason. Peters made some smart moves and others that sure seem questionable. In this two-parter, we\u2019ll discuss some of his best decisions from this offseason.<\/p>\n
Harbaugh didn\u2019t take a lot with him from Baltimore, but the Giants did sign former Ravens tight end Isaiah Likely to a three-year, $40 million contract with $27 million guaranteed. Likely brings his talents to a group of targets for Jaxson Dart that could be formidable if everybody (mostly Malik Nabers) is healthy, and his addition to the Theo Johnson\/Chris Manhertz tight end group could be verrrrrrrry interesting. Harbaugh comes from a Ravens franchise that obviously knows how to utilize multiple tight ends, and the 2025 Giants were surprisingly adept in this regard. They jumped from a 17.40% 12 personnel rate (one back, two tight ends, two receivers) in 2024 to 32.81% last season, and Giants quarterbacks (Dart, Jameis Winston, and Russell Wilson) completed 91 of 140 passes in 12 personnel for 1,245 yards, 693 air yards, seven touchdowns, two interceptions, and a passer rating of 106.3 \u2014 ninth-best in the league. Now, Likely comes on board after a 2025 season in which he caught 27 passes on 34 targets for 307 yards and a touchdown. That was a downturn from 2024, when he caught 49 passes on 68 targets for 603 yards and seven touchdowns, but Baltimore\u2019s passing game wasn\u2019t quite up to its own level last season. Likely also dealt with a foot injury all season long, and missed three games late in the season. If there are any lingering issues (and Harbaugh would know), the head coach doesn\u2019t seem too concerned.<\/p>\n

For those open to learning the truth, here\u2019s what you need to know: eagle-eyed viewers spotted that on Jordan Walker\u2019s final home run swing, the pitcher fed him a white ball \u2013 which, according to this year\u2019s new rules, should have been a magenta ball because he was on his last swing. All night long, hitters had way more trouble seeing the magenta ball that the white one. The theory goes that Walker saw a white ball was coming in a few pitches, watched two magenta balls go by without swinging, then squared up on the white one because he knew it\u2019d be easier to hit out of the park, which is exactly what he did.
